Auditory Personalization of EMDR Treatment to Relieve Trauma Effects: A Feasibility Study [EMDR+]

According to the WHO (World Health Organization), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an elective therapy treat people with post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD). In line personalization of therapeutic strategies, through this pilot study, we assessed in suffering from effects trauma feasibility, safety, acceptance, efficacy EMDR enriched sound stimulation (by administering neutral sounds synchronized guided bilateral alternating gaze) musical reward (musical listening based on patients’ predisposition personal tastes). Feasibility, quantified by number patients who completed treatment, was excellent as case 12 out enrolled psychological trauma. Safety self-compiled questionnaires, were excellent, absence side high satisfaction. Efficacy, treatment sessions required reach optimal scores Subjective Units Disturbance (SUD) Validity Cognition (VOC) scales typical protocols, revealed average duration 8.5 (SD 1.2) sessions, which well below considered a standard duration. EMDR+ appears be relevant EMDR, particularly music-sensitive people, consolidating alliance multisensory communicative bond for treatment.
